Glass Ball

Glass Balls are dimensionally stable, resist corrosion and chemical absorption and can withstand high temperatures (up to 600° F.) Density varies depending on the type of glass used to manufacture the ball.

We offer high precision balls made of the following types of glass:
Borosilicate

Glass Ball features

Soda lime glass ball and borosilicate glass ball are two common types of glass used in various applications. Here are some key differences between soda lime glass ball and borosilicate glass ball:

1. Composition: Soda lime glass is made from a mixture of silica (sand), soda (sodium carbonate), and lime (calcium oxide). Borosilicate glass, on the other hand, contains a significant amount of boron oxide along with silica and other additives.

2. Thermal properties: Borosilicate glass has a much lower coefficient of thermal expansion compared to soda lime glass. This means that borosilicate glass is more resistant to thermal stress and can withstand rapid temperature changes without cracking or breaking.

3. Heat resistance: Due to its low thermal expansion, borosilicate glass can withstand higher temperatures than soda lime glass. Borosilicate glass can typically handle temperatures up to around 500°C (932°F) without significant thermal stress, while soda lime glass has a lower temperature resistance.

4. Chemical resistance: Borosilicate glass has better chemical resistance compared to soda lime glass. It is especially resistant to acidic and alkaline substances, making it suitable for applications where contact with corrosive materials is expected.

5. Optical properties: Soda lime glass has good optical clarity. Borosilicate glass also has good optical properties but is often preferred for applications that require high precision or resistance to thermal distortion.
